It’s been a minute since we roamed the halls, breezeways, and no man’s land all the way to the back portables of North Monterey County High School.
Whether your roots were in Castroville, Prunedale, Aromas, Elkhorn, Moss Landing, Salinas, or Marina, we were all a part of Condor Country—a place of strawberry and artichoke fields, sloughs, morning fog, and the occasional seagull ambush.
We were the generation of MySpace Top 8’s, and brick and flip phones and iPods, of blasting Kanye or Taking Back Sunday from our burned CDs. We wore layered pollos and popped our collars, UGG boots and Hollister hoodies in all seasons, we could smell Axe body spray and Victoria’s Secret Love Spell from a mile away, and we still know Thizz iz what it iz. And who can forget slathering cream cheese on a bagel and stuffing it with Hot Cheetos?!
But more than all of that, we grew up together. We were awkward, hilarious, hopeful, messy, and real. And now, in a world that moves a little too fast and feels a little too distant, this reunion is a chance to slow down and reconnect. Because there’s something special about being around people who knew us before the world told us who we were supposed to be.
Even if you think you’re too cool, or too busy, or you’ve convinced yourself reunions aren’t your thing—come anyway. Come laugh at old yearbook photos, relive ridiculous memories, and remind yourself of who you were before the kids, the bills, the burnout, and the algorithm. Now is the season for reconnection and to remember where we came from.
Let’s do this, Condors. See you back home!
